The 41st Annual Sickle Cell Softball Tournament (SCST), hosted by The Northwest Louisiana Chapter of Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. invites you to participate with us at the “The Granddaddy of the All,” as we hit a home run for sickle cell disease.
The 2018 Sickle Cell Softball Tournament is scheduled to take place from Friday, July13th through Sunday, July 15th at Cargill Park.
” This is an entire weekend of fun for our local residents as well as our ArkLaTex neighbors to enjoy playing and cheering for the best softball in the south. We expect to have a spectacular time with the first pitch to be thrown promptly at 9:00 a.m. Saturday July 14th, 2018,” said Mrs. Lillie Bradford, Executive Director of the NWLA Sickle Cell Disease Association Chapter. “The support that our area communities have offered has greatly assisted Sickle Cell patients and their families.”
“We’ve planned more excitement for the whole family.” added former State Representative and Tournament Chairman Roy Burrell. “Starting with a massive fireworks display on Friday night after dark, to kick off the "2018 Sickle Cell Home Run Derby-Slug Fest", starting at 6:00 pm. In addition, we are excited about our new Greek-Land Family Water and Entertainment Park, to honor the college Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities who have volunteered and manned the SCST event for many years. Greek-Land will include kids bounce houses, water slides, an adult water slide and dunking pool and DJ’s with music throughout the night!! So bring your bathing suit and swim trunks, and don't forget the kiddies!"
With teams from all over the U.S. Southern Region battling to be this year’s best, you can expect plenty of food, fun and competition for the whole family to enjoy. Also new this year… cash prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
For those who like the challenge of swinging for the fence, the Sickle Cell Disease Home Run Derby will take place on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. Winners will receive cash prizes and recognition. Your presence and participation is greatly appreciated as we hit a home run for sickle cell disease.
