1. How can I find the phone number for a recreation center?

• Every facility can be found in the Facilities List by Category. Click on the name of the facility you'd like to contact for more details.
• The telephone numbers for all Parks and Recreation facilities are also located in the city government section of the telephone directory. 
• You can call our receptionist at 318-673-7727 any time Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for information as well.

2. How can I get information about the locations of City Parks or Park facilities?

By calling the nearest Community Center, telephoning our Receptionist at 318-673-7727 or view a listing of major parks or community centers and other city facilities.

3. What are the operating hours and programs at a community center?

You can view Community Center information under the Facilities link. Each center has a page showing its operating hours, location, contact information, programs and photographs showing the facility and activities located there.

4. Can I bring a barbeque grill to a city park?

You can bring one small enough to carry. Large ones with wheels are not allowed.

5. Can you bring alcoholic beverages into the parks?

Alcohol is not allowed, our parks are family oriented. Violators will be prosecuted.

6. Is your recreation department accredited?

No, not at this time. However, we are currently putting programming in place to adhere to certification standards as established by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).

7. Can you provide information on your swimming pools?

The Aquatics Office can be reached at 318-213-0430, you can also read about it on our Pool and Aquatics page.

8. Where can I get information to rent a shelter / park?

Rental of a shelter / park is not available. Those facilities are operated on a 1st come, 1st served basis at no cost to the public. However, rental information for our community centers or other facilities is available here or by contacting the center directly.

9. Who can a person call to report an unsafe condition or other problems at parks?

Our Parks and Recreation Maintenance section can be reached by calling 318-673-5114. The dispatcher at this number will put in a work order to correct the problem as soon as possible

10. Where can I get a permit to sell at a city park?

Selling at city parks is not allowed. For further information, please call Event Services at 318-673-5100.

11. Are dogs allowed at SPAR sports complexes?

Dogs on a leash are allowed at parks surrounding sports complexes but are not allowed inside sports complexes. Service dogs are allowed within sports complexes.

12. Is overnight parking allowed at SPAR parks?

Overnight parking is not allowed at SPAR parks.
