Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR), in conjunction with Cumulus will host the 25th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Basketball Tournament, February 22 - 24, 2013. This annual basketball tournament honors the legacy of Dr. King and is held in conjunction with African American History Month celebrations throughout the city. The tournament is also designed to unite men, women and youth of all ethnic backgrounds for three days of fun, fitness and community unity. Over $3,000 in cash prizes and awards will be given to championship winning teams. Over 100 teams (Youth to Pro Am) from five southern states will be participating, featuring some of the best basketball players in the south. Wheelchair basketball continues be an exciting part of the tournament as well.
The tournament is double elimination with a single elimination championship game. Registration deadline is Friday, February 15th. Registration Fees: Pro-Am (Men) $300, Adult Men (Recreation)& Adult Women $175, Wheelchair $150 and Youth (Boys and Girls) $75. Registration forms are available at:
